OceanWall®

Built on research and testing since 2020.

  • It was never our intention to develop aquaculture technology when we looked into the possibilities of farming Australian redclaw back in 2020. We wanted to farm and sell, buying off-the-shelf technology for land-based farming.

In 2021-2022, we tested several technologies with redclaw together with University of Bergen. We compared the performance of the different technologies and analyzed the results together with crustacean and aquaculture experts with academic and industry backgroumd. The mediocre technology performance in the trials revealed an unpleasant truth. There was a great gap in the market for scalable technology for farming several benthic species with automation.

We went ahead and pivoted our business where we developed the new system based on experienced malfunctions, with animal welfare, simplicity, and automation as baseline.

Animal welfare first, performance second.

  • Over the years we have discarded several systems on the market, where the systems are developed with the technology functions as priority, forgetting the animal welfare.

OceanWall is designed with modularity and with adjustable features so we can accommodate for a range of different species. All species have specific sizes, needs and behavior, that needs to be acknowledged and adjusted for. The modularity and the features are not always friends with principles for technology development, but it is the only way to make a sustainable product.

  • We are asking ourselves – how can we meet complex challenges with simple solutions. Simplification for manufacturing with minimum components and available, durable materials. Simplification for fast and easy installation at the customer site. Simplification for the customer operating the system.

  • The automation system in the OceanWall collects data 24/7 on each animal whether it is feed consume, behavior, and growth rates. It reduces the amount of scarce competence needed at the customers hand, when the system itself gathers, analyze, and reacts on its own.

Simplicity in all stages.

Better than yesterday.
